Snow White

She decided to dress up as an old beggar and she took a basket filled with apples with her. She placed prepared a poisoned apple for the girl and she placed it on the top.She looked friendly and Snow White started to talk to her. She offered her the apple and only one bite was enough for Snow White to fall to the ground unconscious.

After the dwarfs came back they found her lying on the floor and they couldn’t bring her to live so they made a glass coffin in order to look at her some more. She was too beautiful to be buried. They covered her coffin with flowers and guarded it every day.

A young prince was passing through the forest that day and as soon as he saw the beautiful girl lying in the coffin he fell in love and asked the dwarfs who she was. They told him what had happened to her and the prince kissed her. Snow White opened her eyes and an apple chunk flew out of her throat.

The prince asked her to marry him and she said yes. The dwarfs escorted her to his castle.

Genesis forbidden fruit

The story of the Book of Genesis places the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, in the Garden of Eden where they may eat the fruit of many trees, but are forbidden by God to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

In Genesis 3, a serpent tempts the woman:
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

— Genesis 3:4–5
Desiring this wisdom, the woman eats the forbidden fruit and gives some to the man who also eats it. They become aware of their "nakedness" and make fig-leaf clothes, and hide themselves when God approaches. When confronted, Adam tells God that Eve gave him the fruit to eat, and Eve tells God the serpent deceived her into eating it. God then curses the serpent, the woman then the man, and expels the man and woman from the Garden before they ate of the tree of eternal life.

The Arabian Nights

"The Three Princes and the Princess Nouronnihar"
Whoever brings back the most valuable item will be granted the princess's hand. Eager, the princes set off immediately.

Prince Hussein travels to the kingdom of Bisnagar, where he finds a merchant selling a plain-looking carpet for a huge sum of money. He inquires after it, to learn that the carpet will transport its owner wherever he pleases.

Prince Ali travels to the kingdom of Persia, where he finds a merchant selling a strange ivory tube for a huge sum. He inquires after it, to learn that one can see anything in the world by peering into the tube.

And that it had saved practically everyone in the city at one time. When Ahmed asks for proof, many passersby attest to its power; however, Ahmed does not believe it until he sees the apple cure a sick wife with his own eyes.

When Ali peers through his ivory tube, he sees a most unwelcome sight: the princess is on her deathbed in their home kingdom far away, certain to die within a few days. Troubled, Hussein offers to transport them home on his carpet. When they arrive, Ahmed uses his apple to cure her immediately.

Wilhelm Tell

Tell tries to say that his failure to make obeisance to the cap on the stick was a mistake and not intentional. But Gessler isn’t interested in explanations or excuses.instead, he remarks on Tell’s skill with a bow.

Walter pipes up with a boast that his father can hit an apple from a hundred yards away. The crafty Gessler proposes a demonstration: Tell must prove his prowess by hitting an apple placed atop his son’s head. If he hits it, he will be set free.

If he misses, Gessler will have him executed. And Walter may die in the attempt.

Tell begs Gessler not to make him do this. He bares his chest to the governor, begging that he take Tell’s own life rather than risking his son’s, but Gessler is unmoved. Walter tells his father not to be afraid, that he will stand still. Then, in the play’s most famous moment, Tell removes two arrows from his quiver, notches one, and successfully shoots the apple without harming his son. Walter runs to his father, giving him back the pierced apple.

Frau Holle

Every day the poor girl had to sit by a well, next to the highway, and spin so much that her fingers bled.

Now it happened that one day the reel was completely bloody, so she dipped it in the well, to wash it off, but it dropped out of her hand and fell in. Terrified, she jumped into the well to get the reel. She lost her senses. And when she awoke and came to herself again, she was in a beautiful meadow where the sun was shining, and there were many thousands of flowers.

She walked across this meadow and came to an oven full of bread.

The bread called out, "Oh, take me out. Take me out, or I'll burn. I've been thoroughly baked for a long time." So she stepped up to it, and with a baker's peel took everything out, one loaf after the other.

After that she walked further and came to a tree laden with apples. "Shake me. Shake me. We apples are all ripe." cried the tree. So she shook the tree until the apples fell as though it were raining apples.

Finally she came to a small house. An old woman was peering out from inside.

"Don't be afraid, dear child. Stay here with me, and if you do my housework in an orderly fashion, it will go well with you. I am Frau Holle."

The gate was opened, and while the girl was standing under it, an immense rain of gold fell, and all the gold stuck to her, so that she was completely covered with it. "This is yours because you have been so industrious,"

The Magic Swan-Geese

Once upon a time a man and a woman lived with their daughter and small son.In swooped the swan-geese, snatched up the little boy, and flew away with him.

She cried, "Swan-geese! After them! The sister has stolen her brother and run away!" The girl, her brother in her arms, ran up to the river of milk. She saw that the swan-geese were flying after her."Mother river, hide me!"

"Eat up some of my simple pudding."The girl ate and thanked the river, and the river sheltered her under its banks of pudding. The swan-geese did not see her, and flew past. The girl set out running again, her brother in her arms. But the swan-geese came back, and flew in her direction,there--there! They saw them! What to do? Trouble! But there stood the apple tree."Mother apple tree, hide me!""Eat some of my wild apples."The girl quickly ate one and thanked the tree, and the tree hid her with its branches, sheltered her with its leaves. The swan-geese didn't see them, and flew past. The girl ran again. She ran and ran, until she was almost exhausted. The swan-geese saw her again, and began to cackle.

They flew in on her, and beat their wings as if at any moment they would snatch her brother from her arms. The girl ran up to the oven:"Mother oven, hide me!""Eat some of my rye buns."The girl quickly popped a bun into her mouth and settled herself and her brother into the oven. The swan-geese flew and flew, called and called, but finally they gave up and flew away, back to the old woman. The girl thanked the oven and, together with her brother, ran all the way home. And just after they got there, their father and mother returned.
